• What communication and collaboration tools did you explore? Pinterest and Sticky Notes
ReplyDelete• In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills? Showing them how it is relevant to their everyday lives and even how I, as a teacher, and a mom, use these social tools in my daily life to help plan for their education to planning a meal for my family, or coming up with different personal projects for me to work on. (When I have time of course!)
• In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning? Using the tools as professional development to add to my knowledge and know how, to tweak my skills, and to spark different ideas on different ways of teaching different concepts according to the data to help drive instruction.
• Did you have any “aha” moments? My “aha” moment was when I saw there were other educational pinterest sites that I could have been following that I didn’t know about. Cool!!
• What was your favorite part today’s training? Working on my own.
Showing the students how to use what they learn in a relevant way is very important. If the students don't understand why they are learning it, or if they don't feel they are going to use it ...it becomes a one time thing. It also makes it so that students groan when the information comes up, because, they don't feel they need it or they are going to use it. So, making sure it's relevant is important for the students to learn and retain the information.
DeleteI am going to have to do some more reading in this area. Pinterest to me is often overwhelming, but I like how it allows you to brainstorm information and categorize it. I like the idea of other sites to have readily available.
DeleteI agree, relevancy is all ways important in teaching any subject for student retention..
DeleteWhat communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDeleteI explored blogs webquest
In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
I can help them improve their communication and collaboration by giving them more chances to practice it. Using google docs, will especially when they work in groups require that the students work together, talk to each other, and even assign jobs. This will help students become more active in their own education and take on roles that will require they are able to do more than just recite well known knowledge.
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning?
I think by actually participating on a blog, which will allow me to be able to see what ideas other teachers have come up with, and to express some things that might work for them myself. It would be a way of doing a global sort of show and tell or share and explore sort of thing.
Did you have any “aha” moments?
Yes, when I kind of went independent of the studies and check out google doc, and discovered that they have a potion for drawing where students can actually send their artwork as well as post on the documents there.
What was your favorite part today’s training?
Learning about google docs.
I love using Kid Blog with all my students, 1st-3rd grades. They love having a platform to share, reflect and save information. I agree in that it helps their communication skills, tricks them into reading & writing!!
DeleteI agree, practice make perfect! Allowing them to learn from their mistakes adds to their wisdom and helps them to collaborate even better.
DeleteI need to try the Kid Blog site to help my struggling students who don't like to read or write, great thought.
Deletealong with the webquest and want to help them you really should check out the yummy classroom blogs link. It gives step by step and activities to hep the kids become more proficient with their use of blogging.
DeleteI'm going to have to check out kid blog. Sounds cool.
DeleteI have really considered using blogs in my ELAR class this coming school year. I think it is a great way for my students to work on their writing skills. Additionally, it will help them to share their thoughts and ideas with their classmates.

ReplyDeleteI explored Skype & Digio. I am very excited to implement the Mystery Skye. It seems like it is a beginner version of Mystery Cities and it will be perfect for my younger students. I would like to find a classroom that is Dual so my students can practice English & Spanish with students around the world. Last, I think my students will love connecting with a class to share/present their learning. This will be a very authentic audience for my students. As a teacher, I will benefit from the whole experience and connecting with other teachers around the world.
ReplyDeleteI will use Digio to model research and noting important information from articles. My 1-3 grades need some modeling to get started researching on the web. So much information to sort through.
Favorite parts: Learning about Skype & collaborating with my table.
I though there was a free version so I could browse, but when I tried, it wanted $$! Is there another link for teachers to try out without entering a credit card?
DeleteWhich account were you looking at? I signed into Skype with my Twitter account & Digio as a Google app.
DeleteI love the idea of connecting globally to reinforce what is being taught in the classroom. I too would love to eventually incorporate this into my technology class that is, after my head has stopped spinning..... I am just amazed with all the different spin off of this these tools. Never have heard of Skype being used this way. I feel like a kid in a candy store. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteWhen I saw the highlighting function in Diigo, I had the same reaction as you did, Catherine. It's perfect for modelling and practicing finding important information in online articles. I thought about my 3rd and 4th graders. Their teachers could also use it to help them identify important details in non-fiction texts...it would be a more engaging way to apply reading strategies to science or social studies matieral.
DeleteI am excited about Diigo too - a great tool for sharing and collaborating
DeleteWhat communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDelete-Pinterest.com
In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
-Students are able to collaborate and share images for presentations or links to papers, resources, and research.
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning?
- I can enhance learning by using and locating images and videos to include in different lessons.
Did you have any “aha” moments? What was your favorite part today’s training?
Learning new tools that I can use in the classroom to kept my students engaged.
I have to agree, that your Aha moment was one of my favorite things about this learning experience. The idea that I have new ideas to take back and try out with the students for next time.
DeleteI never would have considered to using Pinterest in the classroom. I guess you could have them pin pictures that could be used for an icebreaker activity. The students could work independently to pin all their photos regarding their likes, dislikes, or things that make them unique. Then the students could be put in groups with having each other present what their classmate has pinned.
DeleteThis is a reply to you, Teresa, C. I never would have thought of Pinterest as a school tool either, but I really love your icebreaker idea.
DeleteWhat communications and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDeleteI investigated the Yummy class blogs, and quadblogs. I really liked the Yummy class blog website it was a step by step process it which a beginning technology integration teacher can start up a classroom blog and continue it with simple activities to increase knowledge and usage to become a more advanced blogger with activities for this as well.
* The Quadblogging was really simple but such a great resource. I liked the phrase that one of the creators used that a blog without an audience is a kiss with one pair of lips. So, quadblogging gives students a chance to have and be an audience for others to give and get constructive commits. The website was user friendly and they help set up a quad for you. Really cool.
Did you have any aha moments?
My aha moment was with the quadblog..... even though the students collaborate with others in our classroom that is still a limited group of ideas and resources but with quadblogging the ideas multiply exponentially.
I'm very excited to learn more about the quad blogging - went back and read the article after reading this post.
DeleteI also found Quadblogging to be very exciting and I would like to implement it in my classroom.
DeleteI'm interested in that one too. Who wants to blog alone? My students use Kid Blog, but they don't like it when there are not any comments!!
ReplyDeleteyeah the quadblog was really interesting at how the kids interacted with the blog, their classmates, as well as the classes across town, country or world. Really cool.
DeleteI explored quadblogging, skype, and diigo - they are all excellent tools for collaborating with others and sharing information.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to trying Skype next year, for some reason I am late to jump on that bandwagon. I'd love to organize book talks with other schools or a discussion with an author. I see great potential in diigo for my own professional growth and with older students, I'm not sure if my elementary students will have a use for this right now.
I loved seeing additional ways to use google docs effectively (I had no idea about the footnoting!) and other new-to-me tech tools. I'm not a tech novice but there are still so many new things to learn!
I agree Amanda. When I first started using Google Docs, it didn't have all this functionality so I got away from it. After seeing the citations and the additional features, I will definitely start using again! I didn't like when it pulled in Wikipedia as a resource, that was my only negative comment.
DeleteAlmost all of the folks we reached out to as potential Skype science "virtual experts" were willing and happy to join us in Skype discussions. We had to teach a few scientists how to use the skype tool, but it was such a positive experience for our students to see how their learning would be used in the real world and really went beyond visiting with other classrooms to visiting with real world experts. ~Karen
DeleteLove Diigo
DeleteI am just amazed of all the tools out there. This has really been a great experience on learning what technology is available out there.
Delete• What communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDeleteo Google, pinterest, twitter, and various blogs
• In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
o I really enjoyed the google resources articles and blog posts that we explored. I like the idea of students being able to collaborate in real time and contribute to group products using the variety of tools described.
• In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning?
o I currently use many of the google tools, but primarily google docs, in the creation of joint lesson plans and units. The ability to have multiple people read and see real time edits really streamlines collaboration and immediate updates based on discussions in person or virtually.
• Did you have any “aha” moments?
o I found many many blogs and resources to follow!
• What was your favorite part today’s training?
o The pinterest site! It was overwhelming and will take more than I have currently to explore, but I’m looking forward to seeing more of the resources.
I'm not anonymous. . . I'm Karen! Sorry. . .
DeletePinterest is a great site. I have gotten so many great ideas from Pinterest. You can easily spend hours looking at all of the ideas that are pinned there.
DeleteI enjoyed researching and playing with the new technology tools that can be used in the classroom. It a lot of information to take in, but I have a good start.
ReplyDeleteHands-on was very beneficial
DeleteWhat communication and collaboration tools did you explore? I explored blogging and Google Apps.
ReplyDeleteIn what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills? I'm looking forward to using Diigo. I teach AVID and students "mark the text" quite often. Diigo is a great tool to use to reduce paper and students always have access to the articles.
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning? With AVID, we are implementing electronic documentation during Google Drive
Did you have any “aha” moments?
What was your favorite part today’s training? Collaborating with my group! :)
As and ELAR teacher, I am often having students mark the text. I explored Diigo as well and am looking forward to utilizing this tool with my students for similar reasons.

ReplyDeleteSome guiding questions:
What communication and collaboration tools did you explore? Diigo, Yummy
In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills? Allow them to explore with peers
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning? Test and try new things
Did you have any “aha” moments? Diigo
What was your favorite part today’s training? hands-on; collaboration
2) Respond to at least two other posts from your peers.
I agree with you. Having an opportunity to attempt these activities while help is present made this workshop worthwhile. Knowing if I get stuck and not know what to do, there is a classroom full of resources I can say "Help Me?"
DeleteI explored Twitter or what is known as “tweeting” is a way of broadcasting a short message to the world and or your students. Twitter is about discovering, networking and or collaborating with others. What makes Twitter so unique is that your “tweet” has to be concise and to the point with only using 140 characters. With using twitter you can connect with other educators, share tools, tips and tricks, offer insight and support one another. Tweets can also be organized by the hash tags which makes it convent to stay on what’s best practice for your field of occupation.
ReplyDelete“Tweeting” makes the students learn to be focused in their writing. Staying true to the main topic with only have 140 characters to use does not lend to a lot of room to be off topic. Writing short messages also helps perfect the art of “headlining”.
The ways you can use Twitter is endless. Just do a Google search and you will wonder why you have not used this tool. Can connect with other colleagues to be able to collaborate, stay attuned to the latest technology tools being used in the classroom, being able to tweet out updates, assignment reminders to students and parents is just amazing.
I have had a lot of “aha” moments regarding integrating technology into the classroom. The best part is to take one step at a time with this process. My favorite part so far is learning about all the different apps, web based tools, and being able to collaborate with my classmates as well as bouncing off ideas with Ashley.
I knew very little about Twitter because I was never interested in it until I read your blog. Thanks to you I know more about its purpose, when and why I should use it.
DeleteTwitter is one of those things that I have never understood. How you can get your point across in just 140 characters. But if you just need to make a quick announcement to your students it is great.
DeleteDeanna -- I find the 140 character limit to be a benefit. I forces me to be succinct and not ramble. As Teresa said it does not allow for going off topic. Yes it is difficult sometimes and I have to resort to "text speak" sometimes and use abbreviations that I find irritating outside of a text message but it works. Twitter is a wonderful resource.
DeleteTwitter doesn't seem like it will work too well with my younger students - I do, however, think it will be good to have students learn to be clear in their communication in a short number of characters. Often they ramble on and with twitter they won't be able to.
DeleteI never got into Twitter but reading your post has made me rethink this, Thank you for such a good post.
DeleteAs Lori said, reading your post has made me want to explore how Twitter could be used efficiently and effectively in the the classroom.
DeleteI explored google docs and edublogs. Going to pursue both for students posting. Google docs will be great for those writing conferences. Love the collaboration on both sites.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of using Google docs for writing conferences. I think it will help save time in the classroom and allow for more instant feedback.
DeleteI saw someone present at the R10 Tech conference a few years ago that had a paperless ELA class using Google Docs. I was VERY impressed. The recent changes made make Docs that much better.
DeleteSeveral of my tutoring students attend a school district that uses Google docs. It is amazing the number of things that can be done on that application. I am looking forward to becoming more proficient so that my students can share with each other and I with them.
DeleteMy "aha" moment was from my colleagues when best to use Google Hangout vs Skype. Skype is ideal for tutoring students that need just little bit more help to complete an assignment.
ReplyDeleteUsing Skype for tutoring is a great idea!
DeleteI believe I can help students improve their communication and collaboration skills by getting them to draft a written agreement brainstorming to detailing how they will work together to improve collaboration, learning, and the team's success (possible outcome). Each student gets a voice and choice in how and what they will contribute to the assignment.
ReplyDeleteAs a teacher, I can use communication and collaboration tools to enhance my own learning by becoming digitally fluent. My journey has just begun with this 4-day class. Through Diner Menu, I read about the Digital Promise Organization, where teachers are encouraged to build their own personalized learning portfolios. It is good to know that we have Region10 to help us, teachers, build their personal digitally fluent portfolios.
ReplyDeleteI explored quadblogging, skype, and pinterest communication and collaboration tools. With quadblogging, teachers can collaborate on theme lessons where each class of the respective teacher presents and the remaining classes comment, discuss, and offer feedback. The teachers rotate their classes each getting to participate as presenter and audience. Skype allows classes across town and country to connect to learn weather patterns in different areas, on a particular day; or share in cultural events around the world. Pinspiration: Shake Up Learning gives great ideas for engaging students. For example: The Genius Hour inspires creativity, passion, and wonder.
ReplyDelete• What communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDeleteo I explored teacher blog, Twitter, and Google Drive. They are all great tool to be used in the classroom. Google Drive has so many possible for use in the classroom and for different ways to completed assessments of students.
• In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
o Communication and Collaboration are very important skill for students to learn. Google Drive is a great way to get students to collaborate on assignments and to make sure that they are all working. With Google Drives you can see what work students have completed. Also you can watch students communicate with each other as they work on projects together. Communication is something that all students need to be well versed in. Students have to know how to communicate with peers and people around the world. Using Google Drive and communicating on student comments and guiding they along the way to appropriate communication is important.
• In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning?
o As a teacher I can use Twitter and teacher blogs to get new ideas to help me improve my teaching. Blogs like the Nerdy Teacher and ctrlaltteach.com are great tools to learn what is new and get ideas to put new things in my classroom.
• Did you have any “aha” moments?
o Learning about google forms. It is a great tool that is easy to use.
• What was your favorite part today’s training?
o Playing around with google forms and learn what things it can do.
What communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDeleteI read about how you can use Skype in the classroom. There is no limit to how you can use Skype from teaching a sick child at his or her home to teaching a class in another country. It’s good for virtual field trips, lesson review, and collaboration: student to student, class to class, teacher to teacher, etc.
In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
I can help my student improve their communication and collaboration skills by exposing them to technology and how it can be used for learning. For example, they have cell phones, but don’t realize how it can be used in the classroom for collaboration. They like social media. Why not use it to discuss a lesson?
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning?
Technology is a tool, and it helps me to work smarter, not harder. Sometimes we look at technology as extra work, but we don’t realize that it can make our lives much easier. I’m reluctant to use a technology tool if I’m not familiar with it. But since I been in this course, I now know that you don’t have to be an expert. Your students will figure it out quicker than you can. Let them explore, use their brains, and get creative!
What was your favorite part of today’s training?
The entire day went well. I liked the diner activity. It allowed us to explore new tools, ideas, and collaborate with our groups. I will create an activity like this with my class this upcoming school year.

ReplyDeleteIn what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills? Quadblogging is a great idea to get feedback for blogs. As a tried and failed many times over blogger I know how difficult it is to continue blogging without a noticeable audience. Quadblogging is a wonderful way to encourage students. Sticky notes are a great, interesting way to share information and ideas. It is visually striking and different from a regular message board of comment section.
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning? I think Sticky Notes would be a great tool for use in professional development. It could be used as a resource for apps, links, ideas, etc. Almost like a Pinterest-style organizational tool.
Did you have any “aha” moments? I keep coming back to it but Sticky Notes are great. I love the whole concept and the possibilities are endless. Not having to have a login is a BIG bonus. The concept behind Quadblogging was great as well.
What was your favorite part today’s training? I really enjoyed exploring the different tools out there.
I am anxious to explore Diigo more. I just learned about it a week or so ago and like what I see.
DeleteChris, like you, I have tried blogging before but I never got it off the ground. My frustration is that as librarian, I don't see the same students everyday and I struggle at getting the students to respond to a blog that isn't tied to a grade. If I collaborate more with the ELAR teachers, perhaps we can create a blog that will be successful.

What communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
I explored Quadblogging, Google, and Pinterest.
In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
The students could use Google Docs for research and also to collaborate on projects. Quadblogging is an exciting idea for my students and I believe it will be encouraging for them to receive feedback from other schools.
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning?
I believe that Google apps will allow for more communication between the Science team and also teachers of other subjects.
Did you have any “aha” moments?
How Google apps can be used in the classroom and Diigo.
What was your favorite part today’s training?
Exploring and practicing with the technology.
Since I can not figure out how to make anything but comments to other people's posts, I am going to share my answers to the questions here and at least then I will have done the best I can.
ReplyDelete-What communication and collaboration tools did you explore? Twitter, blogging and sticky notes
-In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills? I think my students will be more of a help to me than I will to them. The lag time that takes place between classroom discussion and getting home to answer questions is quite valuable for students. Too often the responses in class are given with out real thought and of course the kids who process information quickly are the ones who are heard the most. I like the idea of allowing time for responses and allowing the students to comment with out the eyes of others looking on.
-In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning? I find the new applications very frustrating. It seems I am not savvy enough to figure these applications out with just the application in front of me. I really need someone to walk me through things one time before I am comfortable with using them. Hence my success with the blog posting.
-Did you have any “aha” moments? "aha" you are techno challenged!! I think some of these things will be useful and with guidance I can learn how to use them.
You have got to be kidding me. It worked!! 6 hours and many tears later.
ReplyDeleteWhat communication and collaboration tools did you explore? I did quadblogging, diigo, and skype.
ReplyDeleteIn what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills? There are so many ways to have them practice both their oral and written communication skills. I really enjoyed some of the Skype ideas and may try to use some this coming year.
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning? I've used some of these already, but definitely plan on using more!
Did you have any “aha” moments? Not to keep harping on it, but there were a lot of Skype ideas! I really liked the idea where the kids give clues as to where they are located, and the students in the other class have to do some quick research to find out where they are located.
What was your favorite part today’s training? I loved this afternoon! I really enjoyed being part of a blended learning session and learning about different ways to use some tools that I've used personally.
I explored Diigo and Sticky Notes.
ReplyDeleteI think my students will naturally begin to collaborate better if they are using interesting technology tools such as Padlet to do it. Their communication skills will improve when they see their ideas posted on a common wall and discover how important clarity of thought and writing conventions can be.
Most of all, I think Diigo and Google Docs will help me organize personal and professional information. I belong to a committee of librarians who review and select children's books in Spanish to recommend to other librarians. I see the immediacy and fluidity of Google docs in real time as an answer to many of the communication issues our committee has faced in previous years.
My "aha" moment came when I watched Tony Vincent's video and saw the suggestions for classroom use for sticky notes. I thought about how I can use Padlet in the library to collect suggestions from students on books they'd like to check out. There would be countless ways to use those "walls" with research teams.
My favorite part of today's (and yesterday's) training was learning from my tablemates and observing the prodigious technological diagnostic skills of Chris Evans!
Maryam, I like your idea of using Padlet for suggestions on books the students want to check out. We could open it up and have teachers and students make recommendations for books they want us to purchase for the library. That will give them a voice in what we order!
DeleteWhat communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDeleteI explored Blogs, Diigo, and Skype
In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning?
I think that these tools can also enhance horizontal alignments to support the objectives not only in my own class but within another as well. One of my objectives is for students to be reading and accessing more non fiction text, through horizontal alignment, I can support the science, math, and history teachers by using articles that will support their objectives.
Did you have any “aha” moments?
This came when I realized a multitude of possiblities with Google and Diigo.
What was your favorite part today’s training?
I loved the ability to explore the technology.
I, also, appreciate the time we have to explore the technology.
DeleteI explored Blogs, Sticky Notes and Diigo. Each of these offer a lot of potential for improving communication and collaboration among faculty and students.
ReplyDeleteNormally when a student turns in an assignment it is usually seen and graded only by the teacher. By using Blogs, the students can be motivated to do even a better job on their work because it will be seen by many more eyes. The extended audience validates the students' work and inspires them to do their best. It adds value to their work since others will see it and LEARN from it. Students will be "teaching each other" rather than simply showing the teacher that they finished the assignment.
My mind has been going wild with all of the different tools that we have learned. I have thought about how I can use Padlet to organize a wall sharing with the students what books I have just completed, those that I am currently reading, and those that are on my "To Read" list. Sometimes, as a librarian, I get so bogged down in the administrative work that I don't take time to read like I should. Such a simple tool can be used to hold myself accountable for modeling good reading habits.
I apologize for this being so late, but this has been a crazy weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the class on Friday. The time for hands on was very beneficial. I spent most of Saturday at EdCampFWTX. On top of all we have seen in class I discovered even more ways of improving communication. If you want to dig deeper and continue growing, check out the Summer Learning Series by Tech Ninja Todd. The first lesson on Twitter is fantastic. summerls2014.blogspot.com
My greatest "aha" was when I could share with others on Saturday, things we had learned on Friday. We have to share what we are learning with others if we ever want to have our schools to reach a level of digital fluency!

ReplyDeleteI plan on using Google Apps more in my classroom. I feel that using
ReplyDeleteGoogle Apps along with tools like Edmodo, Skype, Twitter, Diigo, and Padlet will allow me the opportunity to assist my students with learning how to actively communicate and collaborate properly. By incorporating these things into classroom assignments and activities, I feel the students will become more comfortable and confident with using these tools, and in turn use them more effortlessly. I can enhance my own learning with communication and collaboration tools by using them with the students more often so that I am leading by example. My “aha” moment was realizing how behind I was with all the new tools in technology that I should have been using to enhance my students' learning. Also just the whole concept of digital fluency and its importance for developing successful students for the real-world. My favorite part of the training was being able to try out some of the technology----hands on!

ReplyDeleteI explored Quadblogging, Sticky Notes and Padlet. Even a tech novice like me can imagine many ways to incorporate these technologies in the classroom. Quadblogging boasts of students improving their writing skills by two years the first year it was implemented. Digital word walls - the applications are endless. I feel like I have tech overload but I am committed to learning and modeling the use of these technologies to my students this year. I really appreciate the time in class we have to explore these technologies - I feel frustrated with my lack of skill and if they were not a part of the assignments I would probably give up.
ReplyDeleteI explored Quadblogging, Google Forms, Google Hangouts, Twitter, and Pinterest. I would like to help create a genuine audience for my students that allows them to see other people viewing and commenting on their work. I think this could help them improve their online communication skills and become more aware of what they are writing online. I think it would be interesting for a student to create a lesson or how to project online using Google Hangout. I use Facebook and Twitter to communicate and collaborate with others. I follow many of the educatonal resources that these have to offer and exchange information, questions, ideas, etc with other professionals. My "aha" moment was realizing that Google Forms could be used as a way to differentiate in the classroom. Looking forward to using it with my students. My favorite part of the day was getting to work and review things on my own. There was so much to look at and explore. I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with blogging Kristen! It's a great tool for all ages, both for reading out to parents and colleagues, and of course student participation.
ReplyDelete• What communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDeleteToday I explored Edublog and Pintrest. I have read many blogs in the past and have never considered blogging. Now that I see how beneficial it can be in the classroom, I am going to begin using Edublog this school year.
• In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
My students could use Google Docs to collaborate on reading projects. They can also read and edit other students’ work.

What communication and collaboration tools did you explore?
ReplyDelete-Diigo was a new tool that I explored, but I was really fascinated by Mystery Skype. I can't wait to try it with my students.
In what ways can you help your students improve their communication and collaboration skills?
- I need to "let go" and allow my students to explore these tools. I feel I am too controlling of what tools they can use and when.
In what ways can you as a teacher use communication and collaboration tools to enhance your own learning?
- I think I can use more interactive tools like Skype to conference with my parents.
Did you have any “aha” moments?
-I am still in shock with Google Nose. I am amazed by it!
What was your favorite part today’s training?
-Hands on exploring with the tools. Letting us have some time to sign up and explore the tools we talked about.
